The data we collect

Information you give us — name, email, phone, and (for the product) details needed to draft a rental agreement.
Identity verification — where you use the product, Aadhaar-based verification is performed through licensed providers (e.g. DigiLocker); we receive a verification result and masked identifiers, not your full Aadhaar number.
Waitlist & contact — the email and message you submit on this marketing site.
Technical & usage data — only with your consent (see Cookies below). We do not run analytics until you opt in.

Why we use it & our lawful basis

We use your data to provide and improve the service, verify identity for legally valid agreements, respond to you, and meet legal obligations. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we rely on your consent and, where applicable, “legitimate uses”. For visitors in the UK/EU we rely on the equivalent GDPR bases (consent, contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation).

Cookies & tracking

Sharing

We share data only with processors who help us run the service — for example email delivery, identity verification, e-stamp and e-sign providers, and hosting — under contract and only as needed. For California residents, we also do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising; the marketing toggle in cookie preferences is your Do-Not-Sell-or-Share control.

International transfers

Children

Legally Rent is intended for adults entering rental agreements and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
